HTTPS Everywhere "Google AppEngine" rule breaks captive portal at Google Starbucks (which is at sbux-portal.appspot.com but uses a cert that's only valid for instant.arubanetworks.com) #1958

Description

@dholbert

HTTPS Everywhere breaks the captive portal page at some Starbucks (like the one I'm at right now). Specifically, the rule for "Google AppEngine".

The Starbucks I'm at right now (with SSID "Google Starbucks) has a captive portal page, hosted at http://sbux-portal.appspot.com/ (This is where I'm redirected when I visit any random HTTP page.)

But, HTTPS Everywhere promotes this connection to HTTPS, so I end up at https://sbux-portal.appspot.com/

And at this starbucks location, that's got an invalid cert. Firefox says "the certificate is only valid for instant.arubanetworks.com"

So, this HTTPS Everywhere rule currently breaks the ability to visit the captive portal at this Starbucks location, which means users can't get online if they have HTTPS Everywhere installed.
