Quarterly standing review (modernization Phase 7). Re-run with fresh eyes on: palettes pdwidgets pygraphics

• S1 - clean clone builds per its README, no workspace assumptions
• S4 - README to working example, first try, as a stranger
• S5 - cut a .devN release; verify the full chain and dashboard row
• S6 - walk the org front door: portal, cards, links, 404
• File findings as issues on the affected repos; note fixes here

Q3 review run 2026-09-03 for palettes, pdwidgets, pygraphics — S1, S4 and S6 done; S5 deliberately not.

• S1 — clean clone builds per its README. palettes PASS (pip and mip both work; repo builds, 4 tests, strict docs). pygraphics PASS with a failing final step (the README's own MicroPython verification command fails — tests/_env.py is CPython-only). pdwidgets FAIL — the README's maintainer recipe targets a src/ layout the repo no longer has and hits FileNotFoundError on step one.
• S4 — README to working example, first try. palettes PASS, except the section titled Quick Start imports an undefined board_config. pdwidgets PASS on CPython desktop. pygraphics PASS, no deviation.
• S6 — org front door. Seven findings: a portal example that ImportErrors on the package it tells you to install, cards advertising features the repos lack, a macOS-wheel promise that isn't built, two 404s, a sidebar description contradicting the repo's README.
• S5 — cut a .devN release and verify the chain. Publication; left for Brad by rule.
• Findings filed as issues: palettes#15 (a real cross-platform bug — the default palette's index order depends on CPython dict ordering, reproduced on all three interpreters), palettes#16, pdwidgets#25, pygraphics#23, .github#31 (front door), lvgl-python#18. Thirty-nine findings in all, each with its command or URL.

Fixes for the mechanical HIGHs (palettes ordering, pdwidgets src/→lib/, pygraphics tests/_env.py) are in progress as reviewed local commits. Everything touching publication posture — the three READMEs' "TestPyPI only … deliberate" sentences that real PyPI contradicts, platform-tier labels, portal card text in repos_db.json — is filed, not changed: those are policy, and Brad's.

Audit 2026-09-04: partially addressed — trim rather than close.

Done: the three mechanical fixes named in the review comment have all landed and are pushed — palettes 1d04bf6 (name tables are ordered tuples, with tests/test_name_order.py), pdwidgets 391c1f0 (scripts/_repo_paths.py derives the package root from pyproject.toml), pygraphics 67f856b (tests/_env.py and the parity tool importable on MicroPython). S1, S4 and S6 were run and their findings filed as palettes#15/#16, pdwidgets#25, pygraphics#23, .github#31 and lvgl-python#18.

Remaining: S5 only — cut a .devN release and verify the full chain plus the dashboard row. gh release list for all three repos shows nothing newer than 2026-08-29, and the reviewer explicitly left S5 for Brad.

The body's S1/S4/S6 checkboxes are still unticked; ticking them and reducing the issue to S5 would make its state readable at a glance.
