Currently the Rattlesnake Ramble has age groups Under 20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
The issue is that sometimes the Mens 20-29 is huge. And sometimes the Mens 30-39. Super fast runners in a huge category don't get a prize while really slow runners in a category with only 2 or 3 get a prize.
The categories will now be automatically created either via a button or just when the race starts or maybe...
What is we had a button to split the group into two groups. The button could appear above any category with more than 10 runners. Or just always be there. Hitting this button would split the category in half, age-wise. Note, this is not hard-coded to a 5-year age division. Also, for this to be easy to decide, in the results screen each category should prominently list the total finishers in that category.
If the category has 3 or fewer, then only 1st place is given. If there are 5 or less, then 1st and 2nd are given. The idea here is that the podium makes up less than half the field.
Finally, if there is only one in the category, then it gets combined with the category younger, but then that category needs to be renamed. For instance if there is one 60-year-old, then they get combined into the 50-59 and that category gets renamed to 50+
I guess, ideally, this would be a manual process to combine these and we'd have a button to do this.
