Suggestion menu not opening when text is selected

I have a suggestion menu on '@' trigger its not working if I select a text and then enter the '@' character, is there any workaround or functions to get this use case working?
Also i can see this behaviour in block note official examples 

Steps to reproduce:
Type and select some characters
Then enter '@'

Expectation:
Suggestion menu should be opened

Actual:
No suggestion menu opened
