Input:

#define DECLARE_COUNTERS(LIST) unsigned long LIST(COUNTER_NAME, COMMA);

#define ACTUAL_LIST(FUNCTION, SEPARATOR) \
    FUNCTION(event1, int, foo) SEPARATOR \
    FUNCTION(event2, char, bar)

DECLARE_COUNTERS(ACTUAL_LIST)

Output of gcc -E:
