It would be great to already copy the command suggestions into the clipboard (and allow to opt-out of that behavior) by using e.g., https://www.npmjs.com/package/clipboardy

While triaging this issue I noticed the landscape has changed since it was opened: #1140 (merged 2026-08-07) removed the --copy flag and the clipboardy dependency entirely, in favor of piping --markdown output to pbcopy/xclip. So implementing this as originally proposed would reintroduce a dependency that was just deliberately removed.

Before anyone picks this up, it would help to know which way you'd like to go:

1. Close this issue (and Automatically copy relevant text into user's clipboard #211) as superseded by the chore(ncu-ci)!: remove --copy flag #1140 direction, keeping clipboard access in user-land via shell pipes.
2. Dependency-free clipboard: write the suggested commands via the OSC 52 terminal escape sequence (no new dependency, works over SSH), with opt-out via config.
3. Fold into git node land simplifications #425: instead of copying the suggested command, prompt to run it directly (what git-node: ask to push commits and copy to clipboard #431 did for git push before it went stale), with no clipboard involved at all.

Happy to send a PR for 2 or 3 if either matches your current direction.
