locks.request live lock

We have noticed in production that locks.request can cause some form of live lock or at least super high ELU (100%).

We replaced it with a user land solution based on SharedArrayBuffer + Atomics and that seems to resolve the issue.

When this happens we are unable to attach a debugger to see exactly what's going on.
