I didn't know the full-json export pipeline is existent before reading plotly/plotly.js#7990. After that, I read the source code of Plotly.js and noticed that full-json is available as the format option for toImageButton and probably for the parameter in Plotly.toImage() and Plotly.downloadImage().

It seems full-json export format option has been existent since v1.57.0 or older (See CHANGELOG and plotly/plotly.js#5203).

If it is not intentionally hidden, I think it should be documented.

You're right that this isn't documented anywhere. Updating that comment is a good change, but I'm going to push some more updates that make it more explicit. Thanks for identifying this gap.
